Cancer patients were scheduled to receive radiation treatment.
Their care teams were ready. The supporting technology was down.
April 2021. During COVID-19, public reports described a suspected ransomware attack affecting a provider supporting radiation-treatment systems.

This was not just IT. It was patient safety. Back then, attacks were mostly human-directed. Defenders sometimes had more time.

Today, AI is closing that window. During an incident involving an internal OpenAI cybersecurity evaluation, Hugging Face's forensic reconstruction covers about 17,600 attacker actions across the full intrusion. On the day the agent escalated, it went from a single compromised pod to cluster-admin access across multiple internal clusters in under thirteen hours.

I am not judging either company. I do not have the internal evidence to do that fairly.

But consider the timeline. Hours. Not days. Plans are not enough. Security, continuity, leadership, and recovery must move as one.

AI-CRRQ asks: if prevention fails, can the essential mission continue and recover?

Because downtime can affect someone's health, livelihood, and life.
